BREAKING: SDF supremo Pawan Chamling Loses Both Poklok & Namcheybung Assembly Seats
Sikkim Krantikari Morcha on Sunday, June 2, returned to power in the Himalayan state for the 2nd consecutive term as it won 19 seats in the 32-member assembly.

Sikkim Assembly Election Results: SDF supremo and former Sikkim chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling lost both the seats he contested this assembly elections. The longest serving CM of India, Pawan Chamling, was seeking a record ninth term as an MLA as he contested from two seats in the Sikkim assembly elections, held simultaneously with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Pawan Chamling lost the Poklok assembly seat to Sikkim Kranti Morcha candidate Bhoj Raj Rai by a margin of over 3000 votes, said Election Commission of India. In the Poklok Kamrang assembly constituency, Bhoj Raj Rai of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha secured 8,037 votes while Chamling got 4,974 votes,

Chamling lost his second seat, Namcheybung, to SKM's Raju Basnet by 2,256 votes. Basnet got 7,195 votes while Chamling bagged 4,939 votes.
SKM Retains Sikkim
The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) on Sunday, June 2, returned to power in the Himalayan state for the second consecutive term as it won 19 seats in the 32-member assembly. SKM supremo P S Tamang won the Rhenock assembly seat by defeating SDF's Som Nath Poudyal by 7,044 votes.

Counting of votes for 32 assembly seats in Sikkim began at 6 am on Sunday, amid tight security arrangements.
