New Delhi: In a setback for INDI Alliance, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to contest the Haryana assembly elections alone. AAP will contest on all 90 assembly seats on its own, parting ways with the INDI bloc in Haryana polls.
With this announcement, the AAP has laid to rest the speculations that the AAP and the Congress (INDI Alliance partners) would fight the polls together.

The press conference was attended by AAP MP Sanjay Singh, Dr Sandeep Pathak along with the Punjab CM.
AAP leader Sandeep Pathak said, "The public wants change and AAP is ready for change. We will fight the elections with our full strength and the results will be good this time.”

Earlier on Wednesday, MP Deepender Hooda said that the Congress party will contest the elections alone as the “AAP has no base in the state”.
In recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections, the Congress won five seats from Haryana which was seen a big jump for the Congress which had drawn a blank in 2019 polls.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the Opposition INDIA bloc had contested the elections together in the state. Out of the total 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the Congress had contested on nine out of 10 seats while the AAP had fielded its candidate from the lone seat, Kurukshetra.
In Lok Sabha polls in Gujarat, there was no alliance between the two parties as they were contesting against each-other whereas in Delhi, there was a seat-sharing pact between the two parties with Congress contesting three seats and AAP four.

According to sources, the Congress doesn't feel the need for alliance with AAP and as it considers that the AAP might become a roadblock for it.
Just a few days ago, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) announced their alliance to contest the upcoming Assembly polls in Haryana jointly.
