#December3WithArnab: A nail-biting election for the five state assemblies is nearing a conclusion with the counting of votes set to begin on Sunday at 8 AM. After the exit polls, it's now the actual result time for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Telangana. The LIVE coverage of the assembly election result 2023 will begin on Republicworld.com at 5 AM. The counting of votes in Mizoram will take place on Monday. Madhya Pradesh Elections 2023
While the majority of exit polls indicated a distinct advantage for the BJP, the Congress remains confident in its prospects of victory in the heartland state. Today's poll results will determine the political fate of Madhya Pradesh's longest-serving Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and his Congress adversary, Kamal Nath.
What happened in the 2018 MP Polls?
The 2018 election resulted in a hung Assembly, where the Congress emerged as the single largest party with 114 seats — only two seats shy of a simple majority. In contrast, the incumbent BJP secured 109 seats, with the BSP, SP, and Independents winning 2, 1, and 4 seats, respectively in the 230-member Assembly.
Chhattisgarh Elections 2023
Despite facing corruption allegations and investigations by central probe agencies, Chhattisgarh's incumbent Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is expected to secure a second term in the upcoming state elections. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the main opposition party, is also putting up a strong fight. The majority mark is 46.
What happened in 2018 in Chhattisgarh?
In the 90-member Assembly, Congress had emerged victorious winning 68 seats, and BJP which won 49 seats in 2013 had managed to bag only 15 seats.
Rajasthan Elections 2023
Due to anti-incumbent sentiment against the Gehlot-led Congress govt in the state, the BJP is said to be ahead in Rajasthan. As per Republic-Matrize exit poll predictions, BJP might get a landslide victory bagging 115-130 seats, Congress is expected to get 65-75 and others 12-19.
What happened in 2018 in Rajasthan?
The Congress had secured victory with 100 seats in 2018 polls. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured the second position with 73 seats. The present composition of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly features the Congress, Rashtriya Lok Dal, and independent candidates forming the ruling coalition, while the BJP, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, Bharatiya Tribal Party, and Communist Party of India (Marxist) constitute the opposition. Currently, the INC holds 108 seats, while the BJP has 70 seats.
Telangana Elections 2023
In Telangana, the Congress is predicted to beat the BRS, led by chief minister KCR, that governed the state since its formation in 2014. Our exit poll has predicted 46-56 seats for BRS, 58-68 seats for Congress, 4-9 seats for BJP and 5-7 seats for AIMIM.
What happened in 2018 in Telangana?
In a decisive victory, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) emerged as the clear winner in 2018 polls, securing 88 seats out of the total 119. The Congress party had then emerged as the main opposition party with 19 seats, while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) managed to secure 2 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 1 seat, and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) gained traction with 7 seats, demonstrating their strong presence in the state's Muslim-dominated areas.
Mizoram Elections 2023
The Election Commission has rescheduled the counting day from December 3 to December 4 in Mizoram. In Mizoram, the Zoram People’s Movement holds a narrow advantage over the incumbent Mizo National Front. The Mizo National Front had previously forged a loose coalition with the BJP but has recently diverged on significant national policies. The Mizoram legislative assembly comprises a total of 40 seats.
What happened in 2018?
During the 2018 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election, the Mizo National Front (MNF) achieved a substantial triumph by securing 26 out of 40 seats with a notable vote share of 37.8 per cent.
