Jharkhand polls: BJP releases 52 candidates list, 10 old MLAs dropped

The BJP has declared the list of 52 candidates that will be contesting in the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections scheduled to start on November 30.

BJP has declared list of 52 candidates that will be contesting in upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections scheduled to start on vember 30. This comes as  Election Commission (EC) anunced assembly polls date for Jharkhand on Friday. dressing a press briefing, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora said that voting to 81-seats of Jharkhand Assembly will be held in five phases.  

BJP’s list of candidates 

Union Minister of Home Affairs chaired a meeting with central election committee of BJP met on Saturday, vember 9. PM Modi along with or cabinet ministers like Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gkari, JP Nda and ors also attended meeting. committee decided following names of people who will contest  upcoming legislative assembly elections.

After meeting, BJP National general secretary Arun Singh said that "BJP declares 52 candidates out of 81 seats for Jharkhand Assembly elections. candidates include 30 sitting MLAs. 10 sitting MLAs have been dropped”.

Phases of Jharkhand assembly elections 

first phase will begin on vember 30 and counting will take place on December 23. Highlighting that as many as 19 districts are Maoist-hit, CEC Sunil Arora emphasized that five phases will ensure security in voting process and said that MCC will be implemented after press meet. tenure of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly ending on December 27, here's schedule.  

  • Phase 1: vember 30, 2019  
  • Phase 2: December 7, 2019 
  • Phase 3: December 12, 2019 
  • Phase 4: December 16, 2019  
  • Phase 5: December 20, 2019 
  • Date of counting: December 23, 2019

Third BJP-ruled state to he to polls in  2019 

Jharkhand will be third BJP-ruled state to he to polls this year, following Maharashtra and Haryana, which voted on October 21. BJP currently rules state in an alliance with All Jharkhand Students' Union (AJSU). In Jharkhand, BJP is led by Chief Minister Raghubar Das. BJP rose to power after winning 35 seats in 81-member house. Its ally, AJSU, won 17, taking NDA past majority mark. BJP's performance also saw it reduce Congress to just six seats. party also swept state in Lok Sabha polls, winning 12 of 14 parliamentary seats.
