New Delhi: Newly elected MP and actor Kangana Ranaut was slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at Chandigarh airport, allegedly due to "disrespecting farmers." The constable involved in the incident has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur. Ranaut, who recently won the Lok Sabha seat from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, was about to board a flight to Delhi when the altercation occurred.

After the slap, Kaur reportedly told Ranaut that the action was in response to her "disrespecting farmers," referring to the 15-month-long protest against the now-scrapped farm laws and demands for a legal guarantee of minimum support price during 2020-21.

What Kangana Had Said?

During the 2020-2021 farmer agitation against the three farm laws, Kangana had allegedly misidentified a woman farmer from Punjab and called her Bilkis Bano, an octogenarian who made international headlines during the anti-CAA protests earlier in the Delhi neighbourhood of Shaheen Bagh.

She had reportedly shared a tweet alleging that the “Shaheen Bagh Dadi” also joined the farmers’ agitation over the new farm laws at various border points of the national capital. She retweeted the post with pictures of two elderly women, including Bilkis Bano, and wrote that the “same Dadi” who featured in Time Magazine was “available in 100 rupees”.

When the Twitter users pointed out that both the women were different, Kangana reportedly deleted her tweet.

SKM Had Also Demandned Apology From Kangana

The Samyukt Kisan Manch had also sought an apology from Kangan for allegedly making insulting remarks against farmers. "How can Kangana seek the votes of the farmers and expect our support when she has insulted the farmer community? She should first apologise,” SKM convener Harish Chauhan had said before polling.
