Chandigarh: In a major setback to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former minister and state BJP's OBC Morcha president Karndev Kamboj has tendered his resignation ahead of the state assembly polls. This comes after the BJP released its candidates list for the polls a few days ago. 

According to sources, Kamboj was seeking to contest elections from Indi Assembly seat but he was denied the chance.

Earlier, Kamboj had served as the cabinet minister in Haryana government. 

Ratia BJP MLA Lakshman Napa Quits

The BJP has decided to field Ram Kumar Kashyap from Indri Assembly constituency.

Further, BJP MLA from Ratia, Lakshman Napa, has also resigned from the primary membership of the party. Meanwhile, BJP has fielded its former Sirsa MP Sunita Duggal from Ratia Assembly Constituency for the upcoming Haryana Assembly Elections. Haryana MLA Bishamber Singh has also resigned. Meanwhile, former state minister Savitri Jindal has also rebelled against BJP as she has announced to contest elections as independent after being denied a ticket.

“I will do whatever the people of Hisar say. I will contest elections to serve Hisar. I only went to campaign for my son in the Lok Sabha elections, I never joined BJP,” said Jindal.

On Wednesday, the BJP released a list of candidates for the Haryana assembly elections that contained 67 names. 

The BJP has released the first list for Haryana elections. The party has fielded Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from Ladwa, Captain Abhimanyu from Narnaund.

Apart from CM Nayab Singh Saini, the party has fielded Gian Chand Gupta from Panchkula, Anil Vij from Ambala Cantt., Kanwar Pal Gurjar from Jagadhri, Sunita Duggal from Ratia, Bhavya Bishnoi from Adampur, Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna among others.

Haryana Assembly elections on October 5

The Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on October 5, and the counting of votes will take place on October 8. Earlier, the polling was scheduled for October 1 but was later revised to October 5 by the election commission concerning the long-weekend and Asoj Amavasya.
