AIADMK in Talks with SDPI for Lok Sabha Poll Alliance, Seat Sharing Meet Next Week
A meeting scheduled for the next week will play a crucial role in finalising the alliance, contingent on reaching a consensus on seat sharing, said the sources.

Chennai: AIMK, Tamil Nu's leing opposition party, is actively pursuing alliances ahe of upcoming Lok Sabha elections after its exit from NDA alliance with BJP. Led by General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappi K Palanisamy, AIMK is engaged in discussions with various parties to form a strong alliance against ruling DMK-led coalition. party, facing challenges since demise of J Jayalalithaa, is striving for victory in polls.
AIMK's parliamentary committee, heed by former minister D Jayakumar, is dedicated to establishing a robust alliance for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sources indicated that AIMK is likely to join forces with Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in state. SDPI is in talks with AIMK, aiming for contesting rights in two seats during elections. SDPI has identified six constituencies, including Ramanathapuram, Mayiludhurai, Pollachi, Dindugul, Erode, and Central Chennai, as its strongholds.

SDPI is expected to present its list of preferred constituencies during meeting, and if an agreement on seats is achieved, alliance between AIMK and SDPI could be formalised. Notably, two of constituencies, Ramanathapuram and Central Chennai, are also on BJP's rar for upcoming Lok Sabha polls, with rumours circulating about Prime Minister Narendra Modi considering contesting from Ramanathapuram.
