Clamours are likely for Rahul Gandhi to assume the position of leader in Lok Sabha at the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting scheduled to be held on June 8.

New Delhi: Clamours are likely for Rahul Gandhi to assume position of leer in Lok Sabha at Congress Parliamentary Party meeting scheduled to be held on June 8. Rahul Gandhi won Lok Sabha polls from both Wayan and Raebareli. 

Sonia Gandhi is likely to be re-elected as Chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) at a meeting of party MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

party sources revealed that Congress MPs including KC Venugopal, Manickam Tagore and Gaurav Gogoi are expected to make demand by raising ir hands.

According to Congress Constitution, Chairperson of Parliamentary Party is empowered to name leers of party in two Houses of Parliament.

Party sources said it will depend on Sonia Gandhi if she decides to name Rahul Gandhi as party's leer in Lok Sabha or opts for some or leer. y said re is less expectation of a decision on issue tomorrow and she may also opt to do it later through a press release.

Sonia Gandhi is now a member of Rajya Sabha. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge is Leer of Opposition in upper House of Parliament.

A meeting of Congress Working Committee will be held earlier in day which is expected to laud party's performance in Lok Sabha polls. Credit for party's "good showing" with party bagging 99 seats compared to 44 and 52 seats it won in last two Lok Sabha elections, is likely to be given to Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

Congress fought election as part of India bloc and parties toger were able to prevent BJP from getting a majority on its own in Lok Sabha. BJP-led NDA won 293 in polls.

Congress sources said party is likely to express its resolve to fight on issues concerning people inside and outside Parliament and a resolution may be opted by CWC over demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into " biggest stock market scam", an issue raised by Rahul Gandhi on Thursday.
