Chandrababu Naidu to Take Oath as Andhra CM on June 12, PM Modi Likely to Attend Ceremony

After paying tribute to Eenadu & Ramoji Film City founder Ramoji Rao in Hyderabad, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said, "We should remember his efforts to bring out all the problems of this region and all the social problems with the help of the media so that it will be resolved by the government. The state and central government always respected him and have given him many awards. We should not forget that he brought pride to Telangana by building Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, which stands tall in the world."

Ramoji Rao passed away while undergoing treatment at Star Hospital in Hyderabad early morning today.

Newly elected Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP from Bihar's Patliputra Lok Sabha seat, Misa Bharti said, “I extend best wishes that Modi ji is going to form the government but the people of the country do not want him to be the prime minister.”

Ramoji Rao was not a person, he was a powerful system. With his own efforts and hard work, he rose to heights by gaining success in various sectors. His acts, writings and the works he has done will always be role models for future generations. I have known him since he established the newspaper. I have gained many mature thoughts by talking to him. He was a warrior. I pray to God that his soul rest in peace. I convey my condolence to his family on behalf of me and my family."

Notably, Ramoji Rao passed away while undergoing treatment at Star Hospital in Hyderabad early morning today.

“I have very serious doubts if the Congress will also attend, even if it is invited,” Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh responded on being asked about receiving an invitation to the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on June 9 at 7.15 pm.  

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi, Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, who arrived in Delhi on Saturday, said, "Our aim is to become Vishvaguru without hurting any countries, we are nearing to that. I have never heard a theory that the party which is leading has to give an absolute majority alone."

On Rahul Gandhi being offered the post of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, President of the Republican Party of India (Athawale), Ramdas Athawale said, "We do not know whether Rahul Gandhi is ready or not because Rahul Gandhi had once left the post of President. When the Congress party had to face a huge defeat in the 2019 elections. Rahul Gandhi had left the post of President. These people (Congress) deliberately worked to divide the society. Our performance in the 2029 elections will be so good that the opposition will not even get a chance to speak. Rahul Gandhi's name has been decided but whether to accept this post or not is up to him."

On swearing-in ceremony of PM designate Narendra Modi, BJP leader Raosaheb Danve said, "BJP is going to form a government with its alliance. Narendra Modi ji will be taking oath as the Prime Minister for the third time. There is an atmosphere of happiness in the country."
 

Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Saturday arrived at Delhi airport. The Himachal governor will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi.

On preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of Odisha Chief Minister on June 10, Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena said, "The new government will be sworn in in the next few days. We are expecting senior guests to attend the occasion. More than 30,000 people will attend the ceremony. The state administration is busy with the preparations. Security arrangements have been made."

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi in Delhi, the Rashtrapati Bhavan illuminated with colourful lights to mark the eve. PM-Designate Modi will take the Prime Minister's oath for the third consecutive term on June 9, at 7.15 pm.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to take oath as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on June 12, two days after the oath taking ceremony of the Odisha CM and 3 days after Narendra Modi takes oath as the Prime Minister of India. Naidu will take oath at 9.27 am near Kesarapalli IT Park in Gannavaram located in the Krishna District. 

Congress leader and Telangana CM Revanth Reddy responded on Sonia Gandhi being re-elected as Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson and Rahul Gandhi being offered the post of Leader of Opposition, saying, "I want to congratulate Sonia Gandhi. We also wish Rahul Gandhi to take charge as Lok Sabha floor leader. For the last 20 years, Rahul Gandhi has been fighting for the farmers, women and the youth. Once Rahul Gandhi takes charge (as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha), the entire atmosphere in the country will change."

On Sonia Gandhi being re-elected as the Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson, Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur said, "Since the very start we have been receiving the guidance of Sonia Gandhi. As CPP chairman, we will keep receiving the guidance. It is a happy moment for all of us and I want to congratulate her."
 

On portfolios for the TDP in the NDA government at the Centre, TDP MP Kesineni Sivanath said, “We are not demanding any number of cabinet berths or portfolios. Our demands are related to the problems faced by the state, such as getting more funds from the central government, improving the financial condition of the state, bringing industries to the state and getting capital for the state. We have given our full support to the Prime Minister.” 

On the Muslim reservation in Andhra Pradesh, he said, "The high commands of both parties will sit together and will sort out something which is beneficial for the people mainly Muslims. So there is no issue regarding that."

On formation of the NDA government at the Centre, Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal on Saturday said, "People saw the trailer in the past 10 years, now they will see the movie in the next 5 years. There will be a big programme in Janta Maidan for the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of Odisha. PM Modi, Union Ministers and BJP Chief Ministers will be present at the ceremony. The oath-taking ceremony will be on 10th June."

Addressing the inaugural function of Maharana Pratap Jayanti celebrations in Udaipur, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said, "We want to spread the message of Maharana Pratap to the whole world. Our government is going to make efforts to ensure that all the tourists coming to the state take with them the tales of Maharana Pratap's valour. Our government has decided to spend Rs 100 crore on various places related to Maharana Pratap's life."

On Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis call to quit the government, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, "Today all the members of Maharashtra Vidhan Mandal and all the MLAs, leaders put forward a proposal. Devendra Fadnavis ji should work for the people of Maharashtra and should not leave the government. We all have urged him that he should take back his decision and we will once again work hard in the government and will also try to take our organization forward."

JD(U) spokesperson KC Tyagi on Saturday was all guns blazing at the Congress, saying, "Nitish Kumar is the founder of the INDI alliance. When the Congress party was politically untouchable, the leaders of Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, BRS and TMC were not ready to sit with the Congress party leaders. Nitish Kumar ended it by holding a meeting in Patna. All the regional allies were in favour of making Nitish Kumar the convenor, but as part of a conspiracy, Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee recommended the name of Mallikarjun Kharge for the post of Prime Minister, while it was decided that there would be no PM face. A senior Congress leader questioned Nitish Kumar's becoming the convenor, such an insult was not acceptable to us. We understood their intention and JD(U) broke its ties with the INDI alliance and joined the NDA."

On Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony, JD(U) leader Md Zama Khan said, "You can see that the government is going to be formed and we support it. He (PM Modi) is going to become the Prime Minister for the third time. The country has some expectations and Bihar also hopes for development."

On arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Delhi Traffic Police, Prashant Gautam said, "We have made comprehensive arrangements for tomorrow's oath ceremony. Almost 1100 traffic staff have been deployed. An advisory has been issued. Proper arrangements have been made for the foreign delegates arriving for the oath ceremony."

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday arrived in Delhi for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan tomorrow. Narendra Modi will take the Prime Minister's oath for the third consecutive term on June 9, at 7.15 pm.

Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, recalled former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying, "The credit for running a successful government goes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee. There was an NDA government earlier, and now there is going to be an NDA government. We will play the third innings just like we have played two innings and the work that we have done in the interest of the country will be done at a faster pace."

JD(U) spokesperson KC Tyagi on Saturday lambasts the INDI Alliance leaders for their dual standard on offering PM's post to Nitish Kumar. He said, "It shows the political bankruptcy of the leaders of INDI Alliance who were not ready to make Nitish Kumar the convener of the alliance, they offered him the PM post. I am happy that JDU leadership rejected them and Nitish Kumar endorsed the name of Narendra Modi as the new PM and all these rumours spread by them have come to an end. If any leader wants to know the name or wants to deny it, we have all the evidence. Yes (the proposal came on June 4, after the results)."
 

Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said, "Sonia Gandhi has been unanimously elected as the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson and she has accepted the post. Rahul Gandhi will decide on the Leader of the Opposition (Lok Sabha LoP). Today's meeting was about CPP."

In a veiled attack on Rahul Gandhi, Kerala BJP President K Surendran said, "During the election campaign we were saying that Rahul Gandhi has betrayed Wayanad people. The people of Wayanad will teach a lesson to the Congress Party. Rahul Gandhi will stay in opposition for the next 25 years. All the parties of the INDI Alliance together got 230 seats and BJP alone got 240 seats. It was a game-changer election this time. People accepted PM Narendra Modi's development politics. This government will complete 5 years."

DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday chaired a meeting of the newly elected party Members of Parliament (MPs) at the party headquarters in Chennai.

On PM designate Narendra Modi's swearing in ceremony, Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Shinde said, "NDA is about to form the government for the third time. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) to skip the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi on June 9. Announcing the decision, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "I am sorry, but I cannot wish well to an unconstitutional, illegal party for forming the government. My best wishes will be for the country. I will tell all the MPs to strengthen their party. We will not break your party but there will be divisions in your party from within, people in your party are not happy."

At the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge proposed the name of Sonia Gandhi for the post of chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP). Party leaders Gaurav Gogoi, Tariq Anwar, K Sudhakaran second the proposal.

Independent Member of Parliament (MP) from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, Amritpal Singh's mother on Saturday met him at Assam's Dibrugarh Jail. After meeting 'Waris Punjab De' Chief and MP Amritpal Singh, his mother Balwinder Kaur said, "He was very happy. We felt very happy after meeting him. He asked to thank everyone who supported him."

Janata Dal United (JDU) leaders Sanjay Kumar Jha, Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, Umesh Singh Kushwaha and other party leaders on Saturday arrived at the residence of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in Delhi to discuss future strategy of the party. 

On Delhi grappling with shortage of drinking water, Delhi's Water Minister Atishi said, "When there is a severe heat wave in Delhi, when there is water shortage in Delhi, Haryana has reduced the release of water from Munak Canal. Haryana is not releasing its 1050 cusecs of water from Munak Canal. In the coming 2 days, there will be a shortage of water in every area of ​​Delhi. I would like to appeal to the Haryana government that they should not do politics on water and release Delhi's share of water."

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Saturday held a meeting with the top officials of all the departments of the state government regarding recruitment in various departments.

On arrangements being made for the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected BJP-led government in Odisha, the Director General of Police (DGP) said, "PM is coming for the oath-taking ceremony. So, we are making arrangements. The Special Protection Group (SPG) team has already arrived. We are deploying sufficient number of forces. We are expecting many VIPs, CMs, MoS and other VIPs to attend the function. So accordingly, we will be making security arrangements. There will be arrangements for a traffic diversion plan. We are hopeful that everything will pass smoothly. We have not received any confirmation from any state government. But we are expecting that by this evening, we will be receiving confirmation from various governments about the participation of the CMs."

Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina on Saturday dubbed the Congress-led INDI Alliance as sinking ship, saying, "The whole of India is 'Modimay'. NDA has won a landslide victory and the Congress-led INDI alliance is a sinking ship. Congress has faced continuous defeats. Congress could not even touch the 100 mark."

Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, on the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, stated, "There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people. People want to see Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for the third time. After Jawaharlal Nehru, Narendra Modi will be the second person who will take oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time."

On Kangana Ranaut-CISF constable incident, BJP leader Shaina NC said, "Be it any woman or any case, you cannot take the law into your own hands. What message are you giving to society by slapping someone. Legal action should be taken in this matter."

On receiving a letter from PM-designate Narendra Modi after presenting him with a sketch, Miraya Anand's father Vikas Anand said in Gurugram, "My daughter whose name is Miraya Anand, compares Modi ji with her grandfather. One day, she made a sketch which depicted Modi dadu on one side, her grandfather on the other and India's flag at the centre & wrote Jai Hind at the bottom. We got a letter from the PMO in which he (Narendra Modi) expressed his emotions. He wrote that the devotion you have for the country proves that the country's future is bright. We are all very proud."

Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya arrived in Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-Designate Narendra Modi. Addressing the media personnel in the national capital he said, "I am very happy that I am getting the opportunity to participate in this oath-taking ceremony."

Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Saturday wished all the newly elected MPs of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and said, "I would like to congratulate all the MPs of our Samajwadi Party and also thank all the people of Uttar Pradesh for the work they have done to send a large number of people to the Parliament by supporting positive politics today. I believe that in a democracy if people are not happy, they choose their representatives according to their wishes. The same has happened in Ayodhya that somewhere people were unhappy and they have chosen their MP."

Former MP Prajwal Revanna, accused in rape and sexual harassment case, brought to Chennambika residence in Holenarasipur by the Special Investigation Team for search. Revanna is in SIT custody till June 10.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. After darshan of ‘Ram Lalla’, he said, "I wanted to do Ram Lalla's 'darshan' for many days. Today, I am happy to come here. I prayed that Modi Ji's next term should be very well, Assam and the whole country should be very well. In the history of India, this is the first time that any prime minister will take the PM's oath for the third time. This is historic. We are moving towards a golden India under the leadership of Narendra Modi. Congress has no accountability that even after 10 years, why they could not reach even 100. Had I been in Congress, I would have held the Gandhi family accountable. Just to make sure that they are not answerable, some people are running propaganda and celebrating for a party that has lost."

Ahmed Afif, the Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles arrived in New Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of PM-Designate Narendra Modi. PM-Designate Modi will take the Prime Minister's oath for the third consecutive term on June 9 at 7.15 pm.

On the swearing-in ceremony of PM-Designate Narendra Modi, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "Only international leaders have been invited for the swearing-in ceremony. Our leaders have not received the invitation yet. When our INDIA alliance leaders receive the invitation, we will think about it."

After the party's CWC meeting, Congress leader KC Venugopal said, "Rahul Gandhi told the CWC that he will take a decision very soon (on becoming the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha). On being asked which seat (Rae Bareli or Wayanad) will Rahul Gandhi keep, he said, "This decision has to be taken before the 17th and it will come in 3-4 days."
 

The Congress Working Committee on Saturday passed a resolution requesting Rahul Gandhi to take up the role of the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
 

In view of PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony on June 9, The Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 in the national capital as a security measure.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday joined the clamour for Rahul Gandhi to take up the post of the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha even as the Congress deliberated on the general election results at the party's Working Committee meeting here. "Our demand is the same as that of 140 crore people of the country that Rahul Gandhi has to take the position of the leader of the opposition," Reddy said when asked whether Gandhi should assume the position of Leader of Opposition in the House.

A host of heads of government from neighbouring countries will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as prime minister for a third consecutive term on Sunday evening. An official statement said Sri Lanka's president Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives' Mohamed Muizzu, Bangladesh's prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Bhutan's Tshering Tobgay, Nepal's Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', and Mauritius' Pravind Kumar Jugnauth have accepted the invitation to attend the event. Seychelles' Vice President Ahmed Afif will also be attending the ceremony.

Bangladesh PM Sheikha Hasina on Saturday arrived in New Delhi to attend the oath-taking ceremony of PM Designate Narendra Modi on June 9.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge Saturday said the Lok Sabha poll mandate is a "decisive rejection" of the politics of divisiveness and hate, and stressed that the INDIA bloc must continue functioning cohesively both inside and outside Parliament. In his opening remarks at the Congress Working Committee meeting here, Kharge also asserted that while celebrating its "revival", the party should pause a little as it did not perform to its abilities and expectations in some states. "Further, we could not repeat our performance in states where we had previously done well in Vidhan Sabha elections and formed the government," he said. Separate discussions on each such state will be held soon, he said.

On CWC meeting, Congress leader Dr Veerappa Moily said, "We need to discuss many things - the manner in which the Congress and also INDIA scored a very high percentage of votes and also the seats. Of course, we should have won and captured the power and Rahul Gandhi should have become the Prime Minister of this country. But we missed it. But now, Narendra Modi is not that great, he has been totally pulled down in terms of popularity, in terms of vote share. I think we are marching forward, and if not today, tomorrow the Congress - under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi - has to come back."

The Congress' top leadership on Saturday began crucial deliberations on the Lok Sabha election results to chalk out its future strategy at a meeting of the party's working committee here. The extended meeting of the party's top decision-making body -- the Congress Working Committee (CWC) -- started at Hotel Ashok here. Senior party leaders and members of the CWC, along with Congress Legislature Party leaders and Pradesh Congress Committee presidents from various states, will analyse the party's performance and suggest measures to strengthen the organisation.

Extended Congress Working Committee meeting began in Delhi on Saturday morning. Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, party MP Rahul Gandhi, party's general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other party leaders present at the meeting.

Ahead of the CWC meeting, Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad said, "It is the tradition to have Congress Working Committee meeting after the General Elections. They decide the next course of action." On demand for Rahul Gandhi to be made the LoP, he says, "That is left to him. But this is the voice of all Congress workers that he be made the LoP."

Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva on Saturday said, "... Alliance partners offered their support when PM Narendra Modi mentioned his 25-year vision for India@2047... They themselves could not cross the 100 seat mark, and are giving us suggestions..."

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha is likely to begin around June 15, sources said Friday. The first session will commence in the third week of June with the oath-taking by the newly elected candidates as members of the House, the sources said, adding the oath-taking is likely to continue for two days, following which a new Speaker will be elected. The next day, the president will address a joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, thus formally inaugurating the session, the sources added.

In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, scheduled to take place on June 9 amid presence of several world leaders at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Delhi Police has announced several security measures to facilitate the smooth flow of events during the day. The national capital has been declared a no-fly zone with police banning drones, paragliders, hot air balloons, and other unmanned aerial vehicles and aircraft systems (UAVs and UAS). This order will come under effect for a period of two days – from June 9 to 10. 

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who are among the guests invited for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, will arrive on June 9 to attend the grand event in the national capital. Nepal's PM had a telephonic conversation with PM Modi on Wednesday evening, a day after poll results were declared,  during which the latter invited him to the event, following which PM Dahal confirmed his visit to Delhi. 

Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his historic election victory, Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Friday said he is looking forward to his companies doing "exciting work" in India. “Congratulations @narendramodi on your victory in the world’s largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India,” Musk said in a post on X.

Delhi Police has imposed prohibitory orders and declared the national capital no-flying zone as Narendra Modi will take oath as the prime minister for third term on June 9, according to an order issued by the Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on Friday.
