Only a Few People Will be Left in Congress: Sanjay Nirupam’s Explosive Interview to Republic

New Delhi: Sanjay Nirupam, former Congress member of Parliament who was recently expelled from party for six years, hit out at Grand Old Party in an exclusive conversation with Republic Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami in an exclusive chat on Thursday.

While speaking about five lobbies within Congress party – Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Robert Vra and KC Venugopal – Nirupam hit out at Venugopal. He also said that five lobbies are all fighting amongst mselves, although y seem to be united.

'Only a few people will be left in Congress': Sanjay Nirupam

Sanjay Nirupam said that Congress is an outdated party now. “y are armchair politicians without any mass base,” said Nirupam, ding, “ Congress party is directionless at moment. In coming days, only 4-5 people will remain in party. Congress doesn't have leership. It's not only me but also or leers who will leave Congress party soon. leership of Congress party is outdated.”

He went on to d, “It is true that Congress contributed significantly to India's freedom struggle. But at present, re is no strong leership in Congress. All leers are egotistical. y are all losers, who have lost repeatedly in past elections. Though leers want to revive party, y are failing miserably.”

'Congress suddenly woke up to my existence'

Speaking about his complaints against party, Nirupam said, “After making me sit idle for a long time, y suddenly remembered of late that Sanjay Nirupam must be put to work. y me me PRO (public relations officer) of Congress party in Rajasthan. I me Rajasthan Assembly Elections smooth for party. (Even) n I received a call and a party member asked me to resign from designation of Congress PRO Rajasthan. y have not me me PRO of Haryana. y announced some or name as a Haryana PRO. In Congress, it has been norm that Centre decides candidates for state roles.”

'Paisa phek, tamasha dekh'

Nirupam said Congress is full of “Chamchagiri”. He elaborated, “That lobby is looting. It's all about 'paisa phek tamasha dekh' (throw money and watch reaction). It seems central leership in Congress has surrendered. 'Chamchagiri' is a primary element of Congress party. re are many people in Congress who have no political background but y are now in high command positions. Many of people re are outdated who hold no significance now.”

Congress will lose elections for third time

“re are a number of people in Congress who are using disgusting language. ‘sick unit’ in Congress party will be more sick soon. Congress has alrey lost two elections. Congress will lose third time, too. re are so many people in Congress like Robert Vra who have me it directionless,” said Nirupam.

Will Sanjay Nirupam join BJP?

When Arnab Goswami asked Sanjay Nirupam if he would be joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or any or political party, he declined to answer and said that he would be able to give a clear announcement only after April 9.

Sanjay Nirupam is a former member of Shiv Sena and h quit Uddhav Thackeray-led party in 2005. It is not clear yet who he is considering joining after his expulsion from Congress.
