Maharashtra Assembly Polls: Pawar-Sonia chalk out seat-sharing plan

Months ahe of Maharashtra assembly elections, NCP leer Shar Pawar on Tuesday has met Congress President Sonia Gandhi at her residence. It is learnt that both leers have discussed seat-sharing arrangement between Congress and NCP for upcoming Maharashtra elections which are due in later this year.

CONG-NCP alliance for 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections

Both President Sonia Gandhi-led Indian National Congress and Nationalist Congress Party have me ir minds on contesting 2019 Maharashtra Assembly Elections toger under a coalition. Both parties also contested 2019 Lok Sabha elections in an alliance.

According to sources, Shar Pawar has reportedly given a final shape to seat-sharing arrangement between Congress and NCP for Maharashtra Assembly polls which are due to happen between October-vember this year. Election Commission is also expected to anunce poll dates soon. Moreover, a detailed discussion is said to continue for next few days before final tie-up plan is confirmed.

Over past few weeks, state leers of Congress and NCP have met multiple times to discuss on alliance. In current Maharashtra assembly, Indian National Congress (INC) has highest 36 seats in opposition and Shar Pawar led NCP has 32 seats.

BJP-Shiv Sena contesting Maha Assembly Polls toger

Maharashtra elections that are due to happen in October-vember this year will have BJP and Shiv Sena alliance contesting toger. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress party won one seat from state and National Congress Party (NCP) won four seats. Indian National Congress and Nationalist Congress Party have been in an alliance since 1999. However, two parties parted ways during Maharashtra 2014 assembly elections.

fothcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls will also have Shiv Sena-BJP alliance contesting polls toger. On Saturday, Shiv Sena party chief Uddhav Thackeray while sahring a st with PM Modi at an event in Mumbai said, " saffron alliance is 'atal' (inevitable) and willreturn to power once again."

upcoming Mharashtra Elections will also see Yuva Sena leer Aitya Thackeray contesting elections for first time which makes him first person from Thackeray family to participate in electoral politics.
