Polling began on October 21st, 2019, in all 288 Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra where 3,237 candidates, including 235 women, are contesting elections. Several Bollywood stars including Aamir Khan, Dia Mirza, Govinda, were seen coming forward to vote and execute ir rights. Actor Varun Dhawan also came down to his designated polling station on Monday to cast his vote. actor was snapped outside polling station flaunting his inked finger.

Maharashtra elections

'Mahayuti' alliance of BJP-Shiv Sena and smaller parties is against 'Maha-agadhi' led by Congress and NCP. BJP is seeking a second straight term under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra. In saffron alliance, BJP will be contesting on 164 seats, and Shiv Sena will fight on 126 seats in Maharashtra. Alliance partners of BJP have fielded 14 candidates on party's lotus symbol. Meanwhile, Congress is contesting polls in alliance with NCP. Both parties are contesting on 125 seats each in 288-member Assembly and its allies on remaining 38 seats.

opposition tried to corner BJP government at Centre and in states on handling of ecomy. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi blaming ruling party for ecomic slowdown and unemployment and highlighting issues like "failure" of demonetization and GST rollout.
