After the exit polls projected a clear and seamless victory for the BJP and its allies in both Maharashtra and Haryana, the BJP leadership in Haryana reiterated their confidence in the party’s victory. The BJP Union Minister from Haryana, Narendra Singh Tomar, explained that the exit polls for the elections are indicative of BJP’s pre-poll assessment. In their pre-poll assessment, BJP predicted that they will return to power with a two-thirds majority.
The Union Minister and BJP In-charge of Haryana, Narendra Singh Tomar, while speaking to ANI said, “BJP has been saying that we are contesting elections on the issues of development and performance of our incumbent governments. Maharashtra Government's performance was excellent and Haryana got a corruption-free and honest government after a long time. The residents of Haryana have forgotten that there is a quality called honesty in the government and BJP had to gain from its honest image. Voters are becoming aware and voting for Narendra Modi and for Nation.”
Tomar added, “People have voted on issues of policies, performance, and principles. They rose above narrow-minded politics of caste and voted for BJP. The opposition was not even a factor. On different seats, we faced competition from different parties. On some, Jannayak Janata Party gave us competition, whereas on the others, INLD and Congress candidates posed a challenge." Narendra Singh Tomar also quashed the claims by BS Hooda who said that Congress will be forming the government in Haryana with an absolute majority. Tomar, while mocking BS Hooda, said, “Hooda ji ka jijaji prem poore Haryana ko maloom hai. (Everyone in Haryana knows Hooda's love for his brother-in-law)".
Rattan Lal Kataria on the position of opposition
The Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Rattan Lal Kataria, spoke about the position of the opposition and said, "We want a strong opposition in democratic setup, but the opposition was marred by its internal feud. If you add zero to the earlier performance of zero, you will see a zero. If you call it a better performance, then so be it. Even Congress will lose seats. I am from Ambala Lok Sabha constituency. My Lok Sabha has seen a hattrick. All nine assembly seats have come to BJP and I can assure you even for the fourth time, we will get all nine seats.”
