Mehbooba Mufti Likely to Skip INDI's New Delhi Meet After Contesting Lok Sabha Polls Solo

New Delhi: People's Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti is likely to skip the INDI bloc meeting scheduled for Saturday in the national capital. This comes after Mehbooba Mufti's PDP and Abdullah's National Conference contested the Lok Sabha polls on their own in Jammu and Kashmir after failed seat-sharing talks. Both PDP and National Conference are a part of the Opposition's INDI bloc. 

Mehbooba Mufti said that she might not be able to attend the meeting due to personal reasons. Mehbooba cited her mother's health as a reason to skip the meeting. "I may not go as my mom has undergone an eye surgery," said Mehbooba Mufti, as reported by PTI. 

While National Conference president Farooq Abduallah left for New Delhi from Srinagar on Saturday morning. 

INDI Bloc Huddle Before Poll Result 

The Opposition's INDI bloc is scheduled to hold a meeting in New Delhi today evening. The meeting is being held to discuss the future course of action as poll results will be announced on June 4. INDI bloc leaders are scheduled to meet at the residence of Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge. 

INDI bloc leaders including AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, RJD leader and former Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav will be attending the meeting at Kharge's residence. 

Mamata to Also Skip INDI Meet 

West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will also be skipping the Delhi meet. While announcing her decision to skip the meeting, Banerjee said that providing relief to the people of the state after the cyclone Remal is her foremost priority along with the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections which is being held on Saturday. 

“The INDIA team is holding a meeting on June 1. I have told them I can't join as we have an election on 10 seats in West Bengal on the same day. Punjab, Bihar and UP also have elections on June 1. On one side is the cyclone, and on the other side, it is elections - I have to do everything. Cyclone relief is my priority right now,” said Mamata Banerjee.
