Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is gearing up for assembly elections scheduled in Maharashtra next month. MNS chief Raj Thackeray has called a meeting of all senior leers & party workers on 30th September and is likely to anunce probable candidates of party contesting elections this year. It has been reported that MNS will contest elections on 100 to 120 seats. However, earlier MNS chief h plans of contesting elections and h called for a boycott of assembly polls till Election Commission agreed to conduct assembly polls in state with ballot papers inste of EVM machines.

Thackeray met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Shar Pawar and or opposition leers with an idea of boycotting assembly elections alleging that EVMs favoured BJP who is in power. However, it was reported that opposition parties were t keen on idea. Thackeray h to rethink on idea of boycotting coming assembly polls due to internal pressure of party. Reportedly, several leers from party want to contest elections and may go to extent of contesting independently or seeking ticket from Shiv Sena if MNS refrains from contesting.

BJP - Shiv Sena alliance
Amid speculations that BJP might t agree to seat-sharing formula being proposed by it for upcoming assembly elections, Shiv Sena is stressing on 50:50 seat-sharing formula for upcoming polls. BJP is eyeing more seats to accommodate leers from or parties who have joined party recently.

NCP - Congress alliance
On or end, NCP chief h said NCP and Indian National Congress (INC) will contest 125 seats each in upcoming polls while 38 seats are given to smaller allies across state. However, two parties are facing a mounting problem of ir leers shifting to rival parties before polls.
Maharashtra and Haryana assembly polls will be conducted between 21 and counting for both states will be held on October 24
