PM Modi holds meet with BJP Election Committee to finalise candidates
PM Modi, Amit Shah and J P Nadda lead a meeting to discuss the candidates, alliance and strategy with the BJP Election Committee prior to Maha and Haryana polls

Prime Narendra Modi held a Central Election Committee meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party at party hequarters in New Delhi. meeting was to finalize candidates for upcoming State elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. meeting was heed by trio of PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and J P Nda, Working President of BJP.
Election Commission recently anunced that elections in two states will take place on Monday, October 21 with counting to take place on Thursday, October 24.

Alliance anuncement soon
BJP meeting went on for a long time in evening, with final list of candidates to be anunced at end. However, leers of party left hequarters in evening without any anuncement. anuncement of first list is likely to be me on Monday, with alliance to be anunced at a later date in Mumbai. last date to file minations to Election Commission is Friday, October 4.

BJP is likely to anunce an alliance with Shiv Sena, with whom y are currently negotiating seat-sharing numbers and important portfolios. BJP won 122 seats of 228 seat assembly in 2014 Maharashtra elections, becoming largest party. BJP and Shiv Sena ended ir alliance before polls, but later after a poor performance in polls, Shiv Sena offered a post-poll alliance, which was later finalized. Last week, Amit Shah cancelled his visit to Mumbai after talks with Shiv Sena h failed to finalize.

INC-NCP opposition
India National Congress (INC) will be contesting polls with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), with whom y h broken alliance in run-up to 2014 State Assembly. Both parties failed to perform well in elections, winning 42 seats and 41 seats respectively. However, alliance was confirmed a few weeks ago by NCP Chief Shar Pawar. alliance will be contesting 125 seats each, with remaining seats to be contested by smaller parties.

INC released first list of candidates who will be contesting polls on Sunday. list h 51 candidates which included former CM Ashok Chavan, who will be contesting from Bhokar assembly constituency. NCP released a list of 5 candidates on September 18.
