PM Narendra Modi has begun a campaign encouraging young people to vote in the Lok Sabha polls which will begin in less than a month. In a blog he has written appealing to the Indian youth to register and carry out their duty of voting and spread awareness about the right and responsibility to vote in our democracy. He posted a blog from his website on the topic on Twitter.
He also reached out to eminent personalities from across the professional spectrum.
He posted tagging well known spiritual Indian gurus such as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Sadhguru, Ramdev and Sri Madhukarnathji Babaji asking them to inspire people to participate in the voting.
"Dear @SriSri ji, @SadhguruJV ji, @yogrishiramdev ji and Sri M, Spiritual leaders like you inspire many through words and work. I request you to also inspire people towards greater democratic participation. Please encourage greater voter awareness," he wrote.
In his blog titled 'Four Requests For Democracy', he wrote about the what it means to be a part of democracy and engage in it. He also wrote about how the process of voting can be celebration than a drag.
A vote signifies the willingness to contribute to the development trajectory of the nation. By voting, people connect themselves with the country’s dreams and aspirations."Let us create an environment where getting one’s voter card and casting a vote, especially for the first time, become occasions for celebration," he wrote.
He also shared about four points one can follow to rigorously participate in the democracy.
