As the Lok Sabha election approaches in less than a month, PM Narendra Modi has begun a campaign appealing India's youth to register and carry out their duty of voting and spread awareness about the right and responsibility to vote in our democracy. He posted a blog from his website on the topic on Twitter.

He also reached out to eminent personalities from across the professional spectrum.

Tagging sportspersons from badminton, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth, he said:

"Dear @srikidambi, @Pvsindhu1 & @NSaina, The core of badminton is the court and the core of democracy is the vote. Just like you smash records, do also inspire a record-breaking voter turnout. I request you to increase voter awareness & motivate youth to vote in large numbers," he wrote.

In his blog titled 'Four Requests For Democracy', he wrote about the what it means to be a part of democracy and engage in it. He also wrote about how the process of voting can be celebration than a drag.

"A vote signifies the willingness to contribute to the development trajectory of the nation. By voting, people connect themselves with the country’s dreams and aspirations.Let us create an environment where getting one’s voter card and casting a vote, especially for the first time, become occasions for celebration," he wrote.

He also shared about four points one can follow to rigorously participate in the democracy.
