Shiv Sena Manifesto: Electricity rate, Farmers' issues on priority

The Shiv Sena on Saturday released its party manifesto 'Vachannama 2019' ahead of Maharashtra assembly elections. The manifesto was released by the party chief Uddhav Thackeray and Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray.

During the launch of the manifesto, Aaditya Thackery said that party' top priorities are electricity rates, nutritionist meals, transport for students, farmers' issues and Fasal Bima Yojna. He also promised that the party will fulfill all of their promises mentioned in the manifesto. Aaditya Thackeray is contesting for the election for the first time from Worli constituency. Aaditya also added that although this manifesto is for the entire state of Maharashtra, the smaller manifesto will soon be released for separate regions including Mumbai.

Speaking about the top priorities listed in the manifesto Aditya said, "Domestic electricity consumption rate at 300 units will be reduced by 30 per cent from 20 per cent. The needy farmers will be provided with 10,000 per year. Rates of fertilizers, pesticides will be the same for the next five years. It will not increase or fluctuate." "There are no buses for the students to go from village to college for schooling. Special bus service will be launched for them," he added.

Shiv Sena to contest from 124 constituencies, BJP from 150

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Friday, October 4, declared Shiv Sena will contest for polls from 124 constituencies, the BJP will contest from 150 and its allies will contest from 14 constituencies, at a joint press conference in Mumbai. Fadnavis also announced all BJP allies will fight the elections under the BJP's symbol. The press briefing was chaired by the Chief Minister and the Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray. The Shiv Sena Chief also dispelled rumours of Aaditya being considered a Chief Ministerial candidate.

Maharashtra polls on October 21

Maharashtra which has 288 Assembly seats will go to polls on October 21, 2019. Maharashtra assembly elections will be held in a single-phase and the counting procedure would be conducted on October 24. The last date of nomination was on October 4. The EC informed that the parties in Maharashtra had wanted the polls to be concluded by Dhanteras.
