Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls on October 21, the Shiv Sena released its election manifesto on Saturday in presence of Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray at Matoshree. Other Sena leaders, including Priyanka Chaturvedi, were also present at the event. Sena in its manifesto has promised reduction in electricity rate by 30 percent, Rs 10,000 to needy farmers and assured that rate of fertilizers, pesticides, etc would not fluctuate. Informing about the details of the manifesto, Aaditya said: Electricity Rate, Nutritionists meal, transport for school/ college students, farmers issues, Fasal Bima Yojna, are the points which will be on priorities and we will fulfill our promises. On why the party has not launched a joint manifesto with its alliance partner BJP, the Sena supremo said that they had no time to discuss. The Congress-NCP alliance has already released its joint manifesto.
Sena-BJP seat-sharing deal
Finalising the seat-sharing formula, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Friday, declared that Shiv Sena will contest for polls from 124 constituencies, the BJP will contest from 150 and its allies will contest from 14 constituencies, at a joint press conference in Mumbai. Fadnavis also announced that all BJP allies will fight the elections under the BJP's symbol. The press briefing was chaired by the Chief Minister and the Shiv Sena Supremo Uddhav Thackeray. The Shiv Sena chief also dispelled rumours of Aaditya being considered as a Chief Ministerial candidate.
Maharashtra election alliance
Maharashtra which has 288 assembly seats will go to polls in a single-phase on October 21. The counting for the polls will be held on October 24. While the BJP and the Shiv Sena are contesting the elections together with the former on 150 seats and the latter on 124 seats, the NCP and the Congress are also contesting together on an equal number of seats. The NCP-Congress duo is looking forward to overcome the massive Lok Sabha poll debacle, while the Sena and BJP alliance is trying to keep its flock together. With such a political situation in the state, the upcoming assembly election will be a test for both the alliance.
Maharashtra Assembly polls
Maharashtra which has 288 Assembly seats will go to polls on 21 October 2019. Maharashtra assembly elections will be held in a single-phase and the counting procedure would be conducted on October 24. The last date of nomination is on October 4. EC informed that the parties in Maharashtra had wanted the polls to be concluded by Dhanteras.
