Despite being snubbed by the Congress party in the National Capital and Punjab, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal has reached out to Rahul Gandhi seeking an alliance with his party for the state of Haryana for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

In his quest to defeat the BJP, the Delhi CM has put forth a proposal in front of the Congress chief and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), requesting the two parties to work in tandem with the AAP in Haryana.

"Today, I have a proposal for Rahul Gandhi to form an alliance of JJP-AAP-Congress in Haryana so that we defeat BJP in all 10 seats in Haryana and it'll play a big role in defeating the Modi-Shah Jodi at national level," the Delhi CM said.

This request comes days after Congress refused to form an alliance with AAP in the National Capital, this despite both parties being a part of the 'mahagathbandhan' and fighting the elections with the same 'Modi hatao' narrative.

Efforts were made by different opposition parties and leaders, but the AAP and Congress failed to come to an agreement to join hands and fight against the BJP in Delhi for the upcoming polls.

AAP alleged that despite numerous requests, Rahul Gandhi rejected the possibility of an alliance. Kejriwal and his party had even gone to the extent of accusing Congress of having a backdoor deal with the BJP.

Kejriwal had on Tuesday, while addressing the media, stated that it was Congress which is reluctant to form an alliance with the AAP.

"Congress is not communicating with us. Sharad Pawar tried to bring us together but Rahul Gandhi said no then and there only," the AAP convenor said.

Later in the day, it became official that both the parties will fight alone in the state of Punjab as well. Like in Delhi, it came out to be that the Congress was not interested in joining hands with the AAP.

"The Congress did not need any alliance in Punjab, nor was it in talks with any party on the same," Punjab CM captain Amarinder Singh said.
