New Delhi: In a shocking remark, Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh demanded purification of the temples being visited by actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut. Vikramaditya Singh has ben fielded by Congress against Kangana Ranaut from Mandi seat this Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a public meeting in Himachal Pradesh's Takoli, Vikramaditya Singh said that the temples being visited by Kangana Ranaut during her campaign must be purified. “Social media posts clearly suggest the food habits of Kangana Ranaut. What she eats is against out culture. Now, the temples she has visited must be purified (mandiro ki safai hona chahiye). People of Dev samaj of the Devbhoomi are hurt over this,” said the Congress leader.
Earlier too, Kangana had faced charges of consuming beef to which she said lies are being spread about her. She called the allegations “shameful and baseless” and dismissed them as rumours. “I don’t consume beef or any other kind of red meat,” Kangana said in a post on X.
Kangana Ranaut and the BJP convoy faced backlash during their visit to Kaza of Lahaul and Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh, with some people showing black flags and shouting slogans against her on Monday. BJP has alleged that Congress workers were behind the protest.
The Mandi constituency is considered a stronghold of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh's family. The seat is currently held by late leader's wife Pratibha Singh. This time the Congress had fielded their son Vikramaditya Singh as Pratibha Singh stepped out of the race.
The polling for all four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh will be held on June 1. Additionally, the assembly by-polls for six seats in the state will also take place on the same day. The counting of votes is scheduled on June 4.
