Meghalaya by-elections: NPP wins Rajabala assembly seat, defeats Congress

The National People's Party has won the Rajabala assembly seat after defeating Congress's Hashina Yashmin Mondal by a margin of 1,900 votes. NPP's candidate Md, Abdus Saleh secured a total of 11,823 votes, while Mondal lagged behind with 9,897 votes.

According to Election Commission's recent trends, INLD's Abhay Chautala who was taking a lead in Haryana's Ellenabad has now fallen by 2,985 votes after 10 rounds of counting. Chautala has gained 40,633 votes so far, whereas BJP-JJP candidate Gobind Kanda has garnered 37,648 votes and Congress's Pawan Beniwal has garnered 14,951 votes.

The Trinamool Congress party was leading on Tuesday in all four assembly seats as estimated by the earlier trends as counting of votes has already started after the Bengal bypolls were carried out last week. According to the election commission officials, the TMC was seen leading after the first round of counting. While, the counting of votes for Khardah, Gosaba, Santipur, and Dinhata began at 8 AM, tight security has been layered around the counting venues.
