Vote For India: Here's the how, where and when to vote, for each state and every constituency, as the countdown for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 begins

India is all set to celebrate the biggest festival of democracy in the world, following the Election Commission's big Sunday announcement wherein the schedule for the elections to the 17th Lok Sabha was revealed.

India is all set to celebrate biggest festival of democracy in world, following Election Commission's big Sunday anuncement wherein schedule for elections to 17th Lok Sabha was revealed.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora informed that general elections will be held in seven phases, and detailed precisely why elections are largest exercise of democratic franchise anywhere in world. Here are dates, numbers, facts and figures that matter:

  • elections will start on April 11 and continue till May 19
  • all-important vote counting will be held on May 23
  • An astonishing 900 million voters will be eligible to vote for 543 Lok Sabha constituencies across country, an electorate that supercedes that of 2014 by a massive 84.5 million
  • About 15 million members of electorate are d 18 and 19 
  • Model Code of Conduct came into effect from very same day i.e. March 10, 2019

How to easily register and check your voter ID online before 2019 General Election:

  • Those who want to register to vote, change ir dress or check if ir names are on electoral rolls can visit  National Voter Service Portal
  • New voters must fill Form 6 in order to register mselves as voters. form is available on NVSP portal. For registration you will need:
  1. A passport sized photo
  2. proof of and residence
  • In case of person or spelling of name is incorrect, individuals must fill Form 8 to update or correct details on electoral roll
  • If you have relocated to a different location within constituency, you can fill Form 8A.
  • If you wish to delete your name from voters’ list from any constituency and relocate to a new constituency, Form 6 must be filled along with Form 7:
  1. Form 6 is to register to vote in a new constituency
  2. Form 7, if your name is deleted from voters’ list in old constituency  
  • You can also collect two copies of forms mentioned above from Electoral Registration Office, Assistant Electoral Office and Booth Level Offices located in your constituency. You will have to fill form and submit hard copies of and dress proof to said office itself.

How to check your voter ID status?

Once you hit submit, a post of it will appear on Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) tice board, inviting any objections for a week. After this, your name will be included in electoral roll and you'll receive an SMS tification on your provided number.

To check status of your application after filing, simply go to tracking status p and plug in your reference ID. If it shows it as processed, you can inste visit electoral search portal and plug in your details to search. If your name appears, you're eligible to vote.

Seven Phase election: 

States and union territories will go to polls in different phases, with some states such as Andhra Presh requiring just a single phase of polling and ors, such as Uttar Presh having polling in each of seven phases.
