AI camera follows soccer ref’s bald head mistaking it as ball, netizens say ‘has a crush’

The incident occurred just weeks after the Inverness Caledonian Thistle soccer team dismissed its human cameraman and switched to an AI technology instead.

In an unforeseen incident, an AI cam’s tech recognition at a soccer match captured lineman’s bald head as “ ball” throughout, leaving soccer teams surprised and audience clueless. incident, that has left internet in splits, occurred just weeks after  Inverness Caledonian Thistle soccer team dismissed its human cameraman and switched to an AI techlogy instead. anuncement was made only last week, as club said with pride that its new camera will use advanced “Pixellot system with in-built, AI, ball-tracking techlogy” at one of most awaited matches.

In a recent clip from match shared by James Felton on Twitter, team's AI camera can be seen tracking referee’s bald head for a football whole time during Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ayr United match held at Caledonian Stadium in Scotland. Inverness Caledonians' AI digital camera created uproar and gaffe as HD foot of match was being directly broadcasted to season-ticket holders' homes. visuals aired live kept  focus on coach’s bald head instead of soccer ball that reduced match to chuckles. In clip that has w amassed 999k views, camera devoid of any human operator adjusted its autofocus to follow linesman, minute his bald head entered frame.

Viewers missed goal shot

Shortly, viewers complained about missing shot of ir favourite team scoring a goal since AI assumed Li bald head was ball. Amidst match, club suggested that lineman must be provided with a toupe or hat to cover  head as it caused great inconvenience to both players and audience. With COVID-19 restrictions in place, match was held in an empty stadium and spectators largely relied on camera to watch game, but all y could see on visuals was a head. commenter apologized to audience, saying, that ir advanced AI cam was programmed to follow ball until end of match. Amused at object recognition techlogy glitch, internet opined that “Tully must wear a hat from w on.”
