Kayak hit by an alligator
Peter Joyce, an experienced kayaker, uploed a video of his encounter with an alligator. In video, he is seen pdling in a swampy area of Waccamaw River, rth Carolina. 2:01 minute video has him pdling swiftly and exploring place. He takes a few second halts and n moves ahe again. As he goes furr slowly, he suddenly gets slammed by an alligator from his left side.
Kayak flips over with force and Joyce is seen in water for a moment. However, he gets back up as soon as possible, and kayak does t get turned over. Kayaker takes a few seconds to fathom what happened and n starts to pdle back rapidly. Peter Joyce uploed video on YouTube and wrote, “While pdling upper Waccamaw in N.C. video soon became viral on internet. A user commented, “That must have been longest couple of seconds under water of your life!” Ar user comment re, “I don’t think I have ever seen a alligator attacks like that. Almost looked like it was hydroplaning on top of water before it hits boat.” A user found kayaker “lucky” stating that it was t a “full size” gator. video has crossed 1 million views within five days of it being uploed on YouTube, with 1.5 k likes.
Peter Joyce talked about his encounter with a daily. He said that he was just about to turn around when it came towards him. He stated that video does t show how hard impact was. 46-year-old kayaker mentioned that alligator hit kayak so hard, he lost his balance and started to roll. Joyce ded that encounter did t end re, he felt reptile under kayak and hit it three times, hoping it would scare alligator away as he climbed back in.

An alligator biologist with rth Caroline Wildlife Resource Commission, Alicia Davis expressed her views on attack to a news ncy. She said that it could have been a female that was trying to intimidate Peter Joyce. She mentioned that it may be a because y are a little bit aggressive around ir nests. Davis stated that mostly y try to intimidate people if y get too close.
