Animal makers asked to chop ‘adult’ content by Bangladesh censor board? Report surfaces

Animal, which stars Ranbir Kapoor in lead, had received an A-certificate for screening in Indian theatres, due to its graphic violence & sexual content.

Animal, the Ranbir Kapoor film which took the box office by storm after its release on December 1, also created major discourse for its violence and portrayal of alleged toxic masculinity as heroism. Animal was also one of the rare Bollywood films to achieve big box office success despite its A certificate. While the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India passed the film with minor cuts, The Bangladesh censor authorities have not shown similar leniency to the makers.

Bangladesh censor board asked Animal makers to chop 27 minutes?

Rumours are abuzz that the designated authorities of Bangladesh censor board have asked for censoring of nearly 27 minutes of content before they can provide clearance to the film. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the Bangladesh censor board has made it amply clear that the Ranbir Kapoor starrer cannot release in their country until they chop off certain ‘adult’ scenes. Reportedly, the makers of Animal have agreed to the decision as well.

After the said changes, the runtime of Animal’s censored version for Bangladesh audience will be 2 hours 56 minutes. Salaar, one of the big releases the previous weekend, too hasn’t released in Bangladesh yet because of its ‘adult’ content.

Animal expected to cross 500 crore mark by next weekend

Meanwhile, after 3 weeks of creating rampage at Indian and global box office, Animal has finally witnessed a drop in its collections post the release of two other biggies - Prashanth Neel’s Salaar and Raj Kumar Hirani’s Dunki. On Monday, Animal collected ₹ 1.72 crore on Monday, takings its domestic figures to ₹ 488 crore nett.

Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles, Animal is expected to to cross the much-coveted 500 crore mark by coming weekend.
