AR Rahman's daughter Khatija affirms wearing a niqaab is her 'Freedom of Choice' as she slams trolls

Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman was criticised recently for his daughter Khatija wearing a niqaab at celebration of  10th anniversary of 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Several pictures of  event surfaced on internet, where Rahman's daughter Khatija was seen donning a black niqaab as she gave a heart-warming speech for her far. Following same, several people on internet took a dig on  music maestro saying that he is 'conservative' and has forced attire on his daughter. In fact, he was also questioned for having double standards. 

Defying all such allegations, Khatija on Thursday, February 7,  took a strong stand for her far and affirmed that it is her choice to wear hescarf and her far has nothing to do with it. She penned a long on Facebook slamming  critics and clarifying her point on 'freedom of choice'.

Sharing a picture with his far from stage of  event and a black note reing, 'Freedom of Choice', she stated, " recent conversation of myself on stage with my d has been doing rounds although I didn’t expect such an overwhelming response. However, re were certain comments which said that this attire is being forced by my d and that he has double standards. I would like to say that attire I wear or choices I make in my life does not have anything to do with my parents. veil has been my personal choice with complete acceptance and honour. I’m a sane mature ult who knows to make my choices in life. Any human being has a choice to wear or do what he/she wants and that’s what I’ve been doing. Hence, kindly don’t make your own judgements without understanding exact situation. #freedomofchoice"

Meanwhile, AR Rahman also shared a family picture on Instagram featuring his wife and daughters along with Reliance Foundation owner Nita Ambani. In picture while, Khatija can be seen wearing a niqab,  Rahman's or daughter Raheema is seen without any veil and ir mor just covering her re with a dupatta. Extending a subtle yet strong message, musician captioned picture saying, " precious lies of my family .. Khatija, Raheema and Sairaa with NitaAmbaniji #freedomtochoose"
