70th National Film Awards Highlights: Mithun Chakraborty, Rishab Shetty, Nithya, Manasi Win Big

70th National Film Awards LIVE: winners for year 2022 were honoured by President of India, Droupi Murmu at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on October 8. ceremony saw winners in all categories - Sooraj R Barjatya was named Best Director for Uunchai. venture film, centred on four ageing friends reying to scale Mt Everest, also won Neena Gupta a Best Supporting Actress prize. ditionally, Mithun Chakraborty was bestowed with Dasaheb Phalke Award, which is India's highest award in field of cinema.

Manasi Parekh, who won her first National Award, broke down while being conferred Best Actress award for Kutch Express. She shared her award with actress Nithya Menen for Tamil film Thiruchitrambalam. On or hand, Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman took home ir seventh National Award.

• Dasaheb Phalke Award: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty receives prestigious 54th Dasaheb Phalke Award.

• Sooraj Barjatya wins big: veteran director receives National Film Award for Uunchai in Best Direction category.

• Manoj Bajpayee: veteran actor has won big for Gulmohar. He has been awarded Special Mention (feature film) Award at National Film Awards by Indian President.

• Miriam Chandy Menacherry: A documentary filmmaker and producer from Kerala , won Best Direction (Non-Feature Film) award for her documentary From Shows.
• Gulmohar: Directed by Rahul V Chittella, movie won Best Hindi Film award. It also received a Special Mention and was recognised for Best Screenplay.
• Aimee Baruah: President Droupi Murmu confers her with National Award for Birubala: Witch To Pmashri winning a Special Mention in Non-Feature Films category.

• Vishal Bhardwaj: He receives award for Best Music Direction in Non-Feature Film category for his work on Fursat (Hindi).

• Deepak Dua: He was conferred with Best Film Critic award by President Droupi Murmu at ceremony.

• Mani Ratnam opens up about making Ponniyan Selvan I: director expressed gratitude for winning a National Award for Ponniyin Selvan and recalled his struggle to make first installment. “It’s a very special film because it comes from a huge classic novel, which has been popular for over 50 years. It’s probably most loved Tamil novel. It’s been a dream for me to do this project. I tried to make it 3–4 times before. So, I am gl I got it. I am gl that my work is recognised, and I’m getting a National Award for it,” he said. Ponniyin Selvan I won National Film Award for Best Tamil Film, Best Sound Design and Best Cinematography.

• Mithun's big honour at National Awards: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, star of films such as Mrigayaa, Disco Dancer and Prem Pratigya has been named recipient of Dasaheb Phalke Award, government’s highest recognition in field of cinema.

• National Award for Best Documentary: Sohil Vaidya’s Murmurs of Jungle will be honoured with Best Documentary award at prestigious 70th National Film Awards, hosted at Vigyan Bhavan in new Delhi. 
   

• National Award for Best Director (Hindi): At 70th National Film Awards, Sooraj Barjatya will be honoured as Best Director for his film Uunchai.

• Rahman wins National Award: AR Rahman won National Film Award for best music director (background music) for his work in Mani Ratnam's Ponnyin Selvan-Part 1, which was also named best Tamil film. 
   

• Gulmohar is Best Hindi Film: Sharmila Tagore and Manoj Bajpayee starrer "Gulmohar", a family drama exploring meaning of family and home, was judged best Hindi film.
