70th National Film Awards: The most awaited award ceremony will take place on October 8 in the National Capital. The recipients of this year's National Film Awards were announced on August 16. Nithya Menen, Manasi Parekh and Rishab Shetty grabbed the top honours.

When will the National Film Awards ceremony take place?

The official ceremony of the National Film Awards will take place on October 8. The ceremony will be held in the National Capital at the Vigyan Bhavan. The 70th award ceremony will honour the finest of Indian cinema in the past year. Winners and other prominent personalities are expected to be present at the event.

Cinema lovers can watch the whole National Award event live on YouTube via the DD News Channel's official handle. The broadcast is expected to begin at 3 PM with winners first taking on the red carpet and then going to the stage to receive their honour.

President Droupadi Murmu will honour the recipients including Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mithun Chakravarty
 

Along with the National Award recipients, the event will also honour the winner of the Dadasaheb Phakle Award. This year veteran actor Mithun Chakravarty has received the honour. Indian President Droupadi Murmu will bestow the honour on him and all other winners.

Who are the National Film Award winners?
 

Regional cinema dominated the National Film Awards announced in August, with the best feature film prize going to the Malayalam movie Aattam: The Play, and Rishabh Shetty bagging the award for best actor for the Kannada hit Kantara. The best actress prize was shared by Nithya Menen for the Tamil film Thiruchitrambalam, and Parekh for Kutch Express. Additionally, Sooraj Barjatiya won Best Director for Unnchai and Neena Gupta bagged Best Supporting Actress for the film. Gulmohar received the honour of Best Hindi Film.

Manoj Bajpayee to receive special mention, Jani Master's award cancelled

This year, during the National Film Awards ceremony, actor Manoj Bajpayee will receive a special mention for his role in Gulmohar. In another headline-making event, choreographer Jani Master who was given the honour for Thiruchitrambalam, has been suspended due to pending rape allegations against him.
