Emmy winner Vir Das receives congratulations from standup legend Johny Lever

Vir Das became first Indian comedian to win an International Emmy award earlier today. comedian-actor won award for his stand-up special titled Vir Das: Landing. After actor’s historic win, many celebrities took to social media to congratulate comedian for his victory.  Leing pack was Vir Das’ peer and legendary film & stage comedian Johny Lever.

Besides Johny Lever, Vir Das received congratulations from many eminent film personalities like Shefali Shah, Taapsee Pannu, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rhika Apte.  comments section under Vir Das’s Instagram post too was filled with congratulatory messages from actors like Hrithik Roshan who posted, “Congratulations! Well deserved.” Meanwhile, Scam 1992 actress Shreya Dhanwantary wrote, “This is massive. Congratulations!”

Earlier, Vir Das h posted a picture posing with Emmy trophy. Delhi Belly actor ded caption, “For India. For Indian comedy. Every breath, every word. Thank you to @iemmys for this incredible honour.”

Vir Das: Landing premiered on December 25 last year

Vir Das’s victory at Emmys came for his stand-up special ‘Vir Das: Landing.’ standup comedy special by Vir Das premiered on Netflix on December 25, 2022, and was instantly received with great appreciation both from its target audience as well as critics all over globe. Vir Das: Landing is his fourth comedy special, which explores mes of global identity and finding your roots. Earlier, Das h also received an International Emmy nomination for his 2021 stand-up special Vir Das: For India.

Meanwhile, Eminent TV and Film producer Ekta Kapoor also received a Directorate Award at Emmys this year, for her significant contribution to Indian cinema and television over her 30-year career span.
