The controversial debate comparing South Indian cinema and Bollywood remains a hot topic. Recently, an incident related to Kalki 2898 AD star Prabhas and Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi sparked widespread discussion among netizens. On August 19, Arshad's comments about Prabhas from an interview went viral, triggering a heated debate about unhealthy criticism of films or actors.
Prabhas' fans were not pleased with Arshad's statement, expressing their disappointment and anger through social media posts and memes. Amid this controversy, an old video of Rajamouli has resurfaced, in which he said that Hrithik Roshan is no match for Prabhas.
SS Rajamouli’s old video resurfaces amid Arshad Warsi's harsh remark on Prabhas
The controversy began when actor Arshad Warsi appeared on a podcast hosted by Samdish Bhatia. During the discussion about Nag Ashwin's film Kalki 2898 AD, Arshad remarked that Prabhas looked like a "joker" in the movie and expressed his dislike for the film, except for Amitabh Bachchan's performance. In response, Prabhas' fans went to great lengths to defend him and even trolled Arshad.
Amidst this, an old video resurfaced, showing filmmaker SS Rajamouli comparing Hrithik Roshan to Prabhas, claiming that Hrithik is "nothing" compared to Prabhas.
Netizens come in support of Arshad Warsi
In the same video, SS Rajamouli questioned why films like Dhoom 2 were only made in Bollywood. After watching the trailer and poster for the 2009 film Billa starring Prabhas, the Baahubali director said, "Hrithik Roshan is nothing compared to Prabhas." Later, Rajamouli addressed his comments and confessed that his choice of words at the time was wrong and that he did not mean to "degrade" Hrithik.
This video resurfaced in support of Arshad Warsi, with netizens pointing out that the South Indian film industry had similarly criticised Hrithik Roshan, continuing the ongoing debate between South Indian cinema and Bollywood. Some argued that if Rajamouli's comments were acceptable, then Arshad's unfiltered remarks should be considered valid as well.
