Actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan has been Mr Perfectionist of Hindi cinema for more than thirty years but recently revealed that he almost walked away from it all to prioritise his family. He felt that his commitment to industry h taken a personal toll. In a recent interview, Aamir and his ex-wife, Kiran Rao, discussed challenging moments of balancing personal and professional life before starting Laal Singh Chdha.

Aamir Khan shared that he once nearly quit Bollywood

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir Khan shared that few years back, he decided to quit Bollywood due to a personal life issue. He said, “I decided to quit before Laal Singh Chdha,” revealing that he was undergoing a personal journey at time.

He explained, “Towards end of Covid, I suddenly realised that I h spent majority of my ult life, from of 18 to w, dedicating all my bandwidth and focus to cinema and films.”

Aamir Khan mitted feeling guilty about t being present for family

Aamir Khan confessed that he felt guilty about t being fully engd in his relationships, mitting, “I haven’t been re eugh for my relationships – my kids, siblings, and family. Wher it was Kiran or Reena, when I was married to m. I felt that I wasn’t re for se people eugh." This realisation came during filming of Laal Singh Chdha, which resumed after Covid break. “During middle of Covid, I went through an emotional period where I realised that I h given my whole life to cinema and h t been re for my family. I felt a lot of guilt,” he shared.

He furr explained that at one point he even sat down with his family to share his thoughts. “I told m that I wanted to quit films and spend more time with all of you. That was my response; it wasn’t because I was disappointed with cinema,” he said. Junaid and Ira persued him t to quit. Though his family understood his decision to step away, when time came to discuss it with potential directors, his children urged him to reconsider. “Junaid said, ‘Why do you have to go from one extreme to or? re is a somewhere in middle where you can be,’” Aamir explained. With ir support, he reflected on matter and viewed it as a “personal journey.”
