Abhay Deol stands by Sona Mohapatra amidst her fight with Anu Malik
Dev D actor showed his support to Sona Mohapatra through his comment on her Twitter post slamming Sony TV for hiring singer Anu Malik as a reality show judge.

Many victims opened up with allegations of sexual harassment by singer Anu Malik during the #MeToo movement last year. Singers Shweta Pandit, Neha Bhasin, and Sona Mohapatra were among the few who recounted their horror tales about Anu Malik's inappropriate behavior with them. in the midst of these allegations, Sony TV had banned Anu Malik from being the judge of their reality show 'Indian Idol'. However, for the latest season, the channel has reinstated the singer as one of the judges.

Support for the efforts
Sona Mohapatra has taken to her social media account to protest this decision taken by Sony TV. In a detailed note addressed to the TV channel, Mohapatra has reprimanded the channel for ruining the Indian culture and society, at large, by letting a sexual predator like Anu Malik be in a position of power through their reality show. Actor Abhay Deol was one of the first celebrities to support Sona in her tussle with SonyTV through his comment on Sona's note. His effort was reciprocated by the singer with praise for being 'the first actor from the industry' to back her in her efforts. Sona Mohapatra took to Twitter to share a screenshot of the actor's message along with her acknowledgment of the same.

Apart from the support from Abhay Deol, Sona Mohapatra's efforts have also received criticism from singer Hema Sardesai. In a note shared by Sardesai, she defended Anu Malik by calling him a 'decent' person and crediting him with the success of other singers. Singers Sona Mohapatra and Neha Bhasin later slammed the veteran singer for supporting Anu Malik.
