Abhishek Banerjee Says 'Critical Appreciation Se Pet Nai Bharta' Amid Stree 2 Success

Bollywood News: The Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 hit the big screens on August 15 and has been drawing the audience to houseful theatres ever since. The horror comedy movie features Abhishek Banerjee in the role of Jana, a friend of protagonist Vicky. In a recent interview, Abhishek Banerjee stressed on the importance of being popular among the audience and being appreciated.

In an interview with DNA, Abhishek Banerjee shared how the if one is popular among the audience and they love the character, then only the producers would give you a role. He said, “Critical appreciation se pet nai bharta. No matter how much critics praise you, producers will only give you work when the audience appreciates you”.

In the same conversation Abhishek Banerjee also mentioned about how having less followers didn’t fetch him roles. He said that it has become the new trend and another obstacle in the path of the outsiders. At one point of time he was also told that the makers of the project only preferred casting people who had millions  of followers on social media platforms.

Stree 2 creates history

Stree 2 featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao has scripted history in becoming the highest grossing Hindi film ever. The film has even surpassed the box office collections of Atlee directorial Jawan. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X and confirmed it. He wrote, “#Stree2 scripts HISTORY... Becomes the HIGHEST-GROSSING HINDI FILM EVER... Crosses lifetime biz of #Jawan [#Hindi version]... Next stop: Inaugurating the ₹ 600 cr Club."

About Stree 2

Stree 2 is the sequel to the 2018 film and is the fifth title in the Maddock horror comedy Universe. Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, this movie is presented by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan. The film features Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor,  Pankaj Tripathi , Abhishek Banerjee and others has a few cameo appearances that have brought the story to life.
