Govinda recently dropped a bomb when he said that he was offered a role in James Cameron's 'Avatar'. At a popular talk show, Govinda made a rather bizarre revelation and said that he rejected the cult sci-fi drama film because James Cameron wanted him to shoot for some 410 days and cover his body with paint during the shoot. So, he apologized and left the film. And now, the actor stated that he rejected a role in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Devdas' too.
Govinda recently spoke about rejecting a character role in 'Devdas' and said, "I asked Sanjay aapko mere mein Chunni Lal kaha dikhta hai? I was a superstar at that time. Mujhe laga theek hai, aap top ke director ho, achchhi baat hai, par aap mujhe character role kyu de rahe hai". He further went on to elaborate that the director asked Shah Rukh Khan to convince him to do the film but he did not at the time as he was a superstar and he felt that he could not do the character role.

Refusing to take up 'Devdas', however, did not affect Govinda's career much as the actor's four films released in 2002, the same year Devdas hit the 70mm. These films included 'Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai', 'Akhiyon Se Goli Maare', 'Waah! Tera Kya Kehna' and 'Chalo Ishq Ladaaye'.

PROFESSIONAL FRONT
On the work front, the actor was last seen in 'Rangeela Raja', although the film was embroiled in controversy even before is release. When the film was not being certified by CBFC, Govinda accused some of his fellow film industry people of not letting his film release. The actor held a press meet, and alleged that a group of Bollywood personalities is conspiring against him and his films for years now. "This has been happening for the last nine years where a group of people in the film industry is conspiring against me and not letting my films release on any good platform," PTI quoted Govinda saying.
This came after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly refused to certify the film 'Rangeela Raja' that was initially staled to release on November 16 this year and ordered 20 cuts. The film is produced by former CBFC chief and filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani.
