After Stree 2 Crushes Khel Khel Mein At Box Office, Rajkummar Rao Says 'Not Competing With Akshay'

After the massive success of Stree 2, which has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year, Rajkummar Rao is basking in the glory of his horror-comedy's worldwide records. Despite releasing alongside John Abraham's Vedaa and Akshay Kumar 's Khel Khel Mein, Stree 2 emerged on top. At a recent trailer launch event for his next film, Rajkummar addressed the question of competing with superstar Akshay Kumar. He humbly said, "He's our superstar."

Rajkummar Rao attracted attention when asked if he saw himself in competition with Akshay Kumar . He clarified that he doesn't view it that way, stating that he has learned a great deal from Akshay. Rajkummar explained that he grew up watching stars like Akshay and considers them superstars who should be admired rather than competed with.

Explaining why he doesn't see it that way, the Stree 2 actor said, "I have learned a lot from Akshay sir. I grew up watching stars like him. He is our superstar, and you don't compete with your superstar, you love them. I am his fan."

"I've learned so much by watching people like Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan , and Akshay sir. They'll always be my superstars, and I'll always look up to them," he added.

He also shared how he still feels like a fan, saying, "I'm so middle-class that even today, if I get a call from Akshay Kumar , I stand up in excitement and tell everyone, 'Look, Akshay sir is calling!' I can't believe I'm working in the same industry as the people I've admired all my life. Competing with them is unimaginable."

Rajkummar Rao's prep for his next film

On Thursday, the trailer for the romantic drama Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, debuted at a Mumbai multiplex. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the film offers a "perfect blend of laughter and drama," capturing the allure and vibrancy of the 90s. 

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video will be released on October 11, the same day as Alia Bhatt 's Jigra, setting up a direct competition between the two films.
