AICWA cinema association writes to PM Modi, demands ban on Pakistani artists

After Modi government announced Jammu and Kashmir's integration with India, a panicky and isolated Pakistan banned Indian movies in the country.
"No Indian movie to be screened in Pakistani cinemas and policy is being formulated to ban every sort of Indian cultural content in Pakistan ," said Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant to Pakistan Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting.

In retaliation to this, All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) took to its Twitter handle and shared a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a complete ban on Pakistani actors, diplomats and bilateral relations with Pakistan and its people.

"In relation to Pakistani government banning Indian movies in Pakistan AICWA urges all the film industries to put a complete stop to any association with Pakistani artists, musician, and diplomats. Entire film industry and cine workers have refused to resume work, till there is a complete ban of Pakistani movie makers, artists, and trade partner," read the statement released by the AICWA.
"AICWA learns that after scrapping Article 370 and 35A, Pakistan has become vulnerable in feeding their perpetrators who were directly involved in provoking Kashmiris to create a non-cooperative movement against Indian government and policies," the statement read further.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has also decided to ban all cultural exchanges with India, including all kinds of joint ventures between the entertainment industry of the two countries after India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, a media report said on Friday.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on August 8 launched a national slogan 'Say No to India', Dawn newspaper reported.
Earlier this week, India revoked Article 370 to withdraw the special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the region into two Union Territories --Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh.
Pakistan termed the Indian action as "unilateral and illegal", and said it will take the matter to the UN Security Council.
