Mass circuits rocking... Metros/plexes witness upward trend... Biz should grow on Day 2 and contribute to a big total over weekend... Fri ₹ 16.50 cr. India biz. Why choose non-holiday as release date? Why release during examination period?A section of industry was doubtful. But makers of #TotalDhamaal stuck to ir decision... And audience verdict says it all... Big growth on *Day 2* indicates public is in ❤️ with #Dhamaal. [sic]"

While movie failed to impress critics, majority of audience is showering praises. From calling it 'hilarious', 'entertaining', 'a laugh riot', movie received some positive response but also got some negative feedback as some called it a 'waste of time'.
Talking to Press Trust of India (PTI), Ajay Devgn commented on how people call it a 'brainless comedy': “I don’t know why y say it is brainless. It is not easy to make people laugh. Today in our country or all over world, comedians are biggest stars. Like here in India, we have Kapil Sharma. It needs intelligence to make people laugh, you just can’t make faces and make people laugh".
