Cyclone Nisarga: Akshay Kumar advises precautions, says 'we'll get through this'; Watch

Actor Akshay Kumar took to social media to advise his fans and followers with a set of precautions for tropical cyclone Nisarga expected in Mumbai on Wednesday

Akshay Kumar has issued an advisory along with a detailed set of precautions for impending cyclone Nisarga that is expected to make landfall near Mumbai on Wednesday, June 3. He shared a video mess through his social media account asking his fans and followers to follow guidelines prepared by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in case cyclone wreaks havoc.

He captioned post, " much-awaited Mumbai rains are here but this year we have an uninvited guest, #CycloneNisarga! In case it does hit us, here are some precautions shared by @my_bmc, we will get through this as well. Praying for everyone’s well-being. For any queries and concerns regarding cyclone, dial 1916 and press 4."

Some of precautions that he listed through video were:

  • Don't step out of house.
  • Don't go by sea-side
  • If you're outside n take shelter at a safe place.
  • Don't stand under tree.
  • Don't take shelter in a dilapidated building.
  • If it's t needed, turn off gas supply and electricity at home.

On Tuesday, June 2, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also addressed people of state regarding Cyclone Nisarga situation. While recalling that some activities were set to recommence from June 3 onwards, he appealed to people living in areas along coast to remain indoors on June 3 and 4. He also urged fisherfolk t to venture into sea for next two days.

Cyclone Nisarga, headed towards coasts of Maharashtra and Gujarat, is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm in next few hours. It is expected to make landfall near Alibaug on June 3 with a wind speed of about 100 km per hour. Regions such as Palghar, Pune, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Dhule, Nandurbar and Nashik are expected to receive heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

'Do t believe in rumours'

On this occasion, Thackeray cautioned that electric supply might have to be snapped in some places depending on intensity of rainfall. He also advised people to avoid using electronic appliances and charge those items running on battery. Thackeray called upon everyone t to take shelter in sheds. Additionally, he asked residents of vulnerable areas to store drinking water and keep medicines handy.
