Alia Bhatt says 'Hope to continue to entertain' as she wins Best Actress National Award

Alia Bhatt has expressed happiness in winning the National Award for the Best Actress award for Gangubai Kathiawadi. It is her first National Award.

Alia Bhatt is celebrating the big victory of her film Gangubai Kathiawadi as she bagged the award for Best Actress at the 69th National Film Award. The 30-year-old actress shared a post on her social media handle, thanking Sanjay Leela Bhansali, his family and the audience. It is Alia's first National Award.

Alia Bhatt celebrates Best Actress victory in Gangubai style

Taking to her Instagram, the actress shared two pictures and wrote a long note expressing her happiness. In the first image, Alia is doing namaste in Gangubai style, while in the next image, she is simply smiling.

She penned her note to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the crew, her family and the audience and wrote, "This national award is yours... because without you ALL none of this would be possible... seriously!!!"

Alia said that she is 'grateful' and she doesn't take such moments lightly. "I do not take moments like these lightly... I hope to continue to entertain for as long as I can," she added.

Alia, who is sharing her Best Actress title with Kriti Sanon, congratulated her on her big win. "I remember messaging you the day I saw 'Mimi' .. it was such an honest and powerful performance... I cried and cried.. so so well deserved.. shine on you star… the world is your oyster," wrote Alia.

Gangubai Kathiawadi won two awards -- Sanjay Leela Bhansali won the award for Best Editing and Best Screenplay Writer (adapted) along with Utkarshini Vashishtha. The film's other awards were for Best Dialogue Writer (Vashishtha and Prakash Kapadia) and Best Make-up Artist (Preetisheel Singh D'souza).
