Alia, Varun & Karan Johar express anger over axing of tress at Aarey

In lieu of the chopping of trees in Aarey forest, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Karan Johar took to social media to express their anger over the axing

In lieu of axing of trees in Aarey forests, celebrities took to social media to express ir concern over felling of greenery in Mumbai's Aarey colony. B-town celebrities stated ir opinions on Twitter alerting everyone on impact this could have on environment. Actors Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan immediately responded after news of axing hit internet. Director-Producer Karan Johar also tweeted venting his anger over felling of trees.

Actor Varun Dhawan took to Twitter and penned down, "This is heartbreaking news. With such an outcry to stop cutting of trees why is this being allowed Mumbai has done eugh for people in power to realise cutting down Aarey is something citizens don’t want"

Protests ensued at Aarey colony

Bombay High Court on October 4 refused to anunce Aarey colony a forest. It furr declined all four petitions against felling of trees. Protests in colony ensued after authorities from Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) allegedly started axing  trees on same day after  Bombay High Court's dismissal of all petitions challenging  felling of trees. However, videos of  trees being cut at Aarey surfaced on social media which led to locals garing at forest as a sign of protest. According to sources, police h to resort to lathi-charge to stop protests.
