Amitabh Bachchan first made his debut as a voice narrator in 1969 film Bhuvan Shome. Filmfare Award

Amitabh has won several Filmfare Awards as well as National Film Awards. However, he was first artist to ever receive greatest hour in Filmfare, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. award was bestowed upon him for his lifetime of dedication to Indian film industry and his great achievements as an actor. He received award in 1991 and was also given title of Superstar of Millennium during Filmfare Awards (2000).

British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC) named Amitabh Greatest Star of St or Screen in 1999. This was despite fact that most of western population did t kw about him at that time. He was chosen first by a large majority of votes. This was probably because of n rise in popularity of Indian cinema worldwide.

Padma Shri Award is fourth-highest civilian award in India. It is awarded on every Republic Day. Government of India confers award to that worthy candidate who has contributed to growth and development of country. Amitabh Bachchan received Padma Shri in 1984 for his career achievements.

Padma Bhushan

Padma Bhushan is third-highest civilian award granted by Government of India. This award is also granted on Republic Day to a candidate chosen by  committee. committee is appointed by Prime Minister of India himself. Amitabh won Padma Bhushan Award in 2001.

Padma Vibhushan

This is second-highest-ranking civilian award granted by Government of Indian. It is second only to Bharat Ratna. Similar to or great civilian hours, Padma Vibhushan is awarded on Republic Day. Amitabh won this award recently in 2015. only major civilian hour that he is yet to win is Bharat Ratna.

French Hours

Amitabh Bachchan was granted horary citizenship of French town Deauville in 2003. Later in 2007, he was bestowed with greatest civilian hour of France by French Government, Knight of  Legion of Hour. He received award for his exceptional achievements in cinema and beyond. French Ambassador stated that after getting highest French hour, Amitabh was w a part of International Legion of World’s Best Artists.
