A critic review is something that can either make or break a movie at the box office. Other than box office performances, one thing that actors and filmmakers worry about is critic reviews for their movie. This can be very demotivating for the people who have worked hard for a particular movie. During the event of Khalid Mohamed’s book launch, Anil Kapoor opened about his early days. He divulged how reviews used to affect him because his hard work was not counted. He also said that now that he has grown up and gained some experience in the industry, he is no more affected by these things.

Khalid Mohammed was a journalist, editor, film critic, screenwriter and film director. Anil Kapoor attended the event with Karan Johar, Javed Akhtar, and Asha Parekh on October 8, 2019. When Kapoor was asked whether it ever happened that Mohammed’s reviews affected him, he replied that there are quite a few films for which he received harsh criticism. But right now, the film that reminded him of Khalid’s caustic review was for the movie ‘Beta’.

The second film that Kapoor mentioned was ‘Lamhe’. He said that ‘Lamhe’ received very bad reviews that were quite disheartening for Yash Chopra and all other team members as it affected the business of the film. Khalid gave a review for the film where he made a comparison of the movie with Gulzaar’s Mausam (1975). He added that almost after 25 years, Khalid called him and regretted his decision saying that he was wrong and it was indeed a very good film. Anil Kapoor exclaimed that sometimes it’s just the state of mind, that you won’t like the movie when you watch it for the first time. But later, you really like it when you watch it again.
