Anil Kapoor, who was last seen playing the role of a father in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga wants to broaden his horizon and play negative roles. In an interview with a media portal, the 62-year-old actor spoke about his desire to play a dark character that challenges his acting abilities. The father of three also mentioned that he wanted to bring a change in his image of a family entertainer and experiment with his roles.
In an interview, Anil Kapoor expressed his wish of wanting to play a negative role and experiment with his dark side. He was quoted saying that his previous characters had shades of grey but never fully explored their darker side. He has never been offered a role like Kancha Cheena from Agneepath, a role with no explanation or justification for his demeanour and with a presence that can easily incite fear in others. He also mentioned liking Christoph Waltz’s role in Inglorious Basterds and Leonardo DiCaprio’s role in Django Unchained.

He further said that the role’s requirement should fulfil other criteria as well. The Slumdog Millionaire actor was quoted saying that he wanted a negative role to be more than its tone. It should excite him. The producer, the director, and the script should have a proper execution plan. He also observed that he has not been approached for a role that ticks off all these requirements. The Fanney Khan actor was appreciated for his role as an unsettling and slimy Prem Kumar, host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Although the role had shades of grey, it did not have the opportunity to be fully explored.

According to sources, Anil Kapoor will be seen playing a negative role in Mohit Suri’s next film titled Malang. The film will also star Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani and Kunal Khemu. Anil Kapoor will also be a part of Aneez Bazmee’s Pagalpanti alongside John Abraham, Ileana D’Cruz, Pulkit Samrat, Urvashi Rautela and Saurabh Shukla. He will be also part of Dharma Productions’ Takht starring an ensemble cast of seasoned actors like Kareena Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jhanavi Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar.
