Anu Menon: Vidya Balan liked that Shakuntala Devi was 'humanised' in the film

In a recent interview, 'Shakuntala Devi' director, Anu Menon, spoke about the film and said that they did not put the titular character 'on a pedestal'.

Shakuntala Devi, featuring Vidya Balan in titular role along with Jisshu Sengupta and Sanya Malhotra in key roles, will be released worldwide on Amazon Prime Video. In a recent interview with a media portal,  director of Shakuntala Devi, Anu Men spoke about film, cast, and titular character. filmmaker explained how she 'humanised' Shakuntala Devi. In interview, Anu Men, director, was asked where Shakuntala Devi stands as re are biopics that are criticised for various reasons including being 'patriotic' and 'jingoistic'. To which, Anu Men replied that makers did t ponder on being patriotic while telling story of Shakuntala Devi. She praised Shakuntala Devi for being a mamatician who could have been an actor in Bollywood. She mentioned in interview that Vidya Balan liked that makers did t put Shakuntala Devi 'on a pedestal' and that she was 'humanised'.

Anu Men shared her perspective on Shakuntala Devi's personality and described her to have a colourful personality. She said Devi was a 'global citizen' who has travelled world. Men said that Devi me m proud because of her popularity. Talking about times Devi was in media, Men shared that Shakuntala Devi was on television back during 1950s when her stories impressed people.

Anu Men explained what storyline of movie is about. She said storyline of Shakuntala Devi focuses on her struggles, her life, challenges she faced, and ups and downs of her life. Hence, she says that upcoming Vidya Balan starrer is t jingoistic and that y have 't put her on a pedestal'. Reflecting on same, Anu Men said that y have 'humanised' her.
