Anupam Kher takes a dig at western celebs tweeting on farmers' protest, shares poetry

Joining Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Suniel Shetty, Ekta Kapoor, and ors, actor and author Anupam Kher on Wednesday slammed international celebrities commenting on farmers' protest. Kher shared a few poetic lines for 'For some foreigners who interfere in internal affairs' of our country.

Without naming anyone, singer Kailesh Kher said that anti-India can stoop to any level to defame country. "Even in this s phase of pandemic, India is helping all nations with vaccine supply for sake of Humanity. Let all realize that India is ONE & will t tolerate comments against it. #IndiaToger #IndiaAgainstPropaganda" he tweeted.

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Suniel Shetty on Wednesday said citizens should focus on government's efforts to resolve ongoing farmer crisis rar than paying attention to "half truths" and those "creating differences."

ir comments came after Ministry of External Affairs reacted sharply to comments by international pop star Rihanna, teen climate activist Greta Thunberg and ors on farmers' protests. In a statement, MEA said a very small section of farmers in parts of country have some reservations about farm reforms and a proper understanding of issue is needed before rushing to comment on agitation.

Rihanna, who has 100 million followers on Twitter and is among most-followed people on microblogging site, on Tuesday tweeted, "why aren't we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest, linking a CNN report on internet shutdown near protest site.

MEA Statement

In its response, MEA said Parliament of India passed reformist legislation relating to agricultural sector, and ted that some of vested interest groups have tried to mobilise international support against India.  "We would like to emphasise that se protests must be seen in context of India's democratic ethos and polity, and efforts of government and concerned farmer groups to resolve impasse.

Thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab and Haryana, have been camping at several Delhi border points since vember last year, demanding government to repeal three farm laws and legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for ir crops. Sites of farmer protest at Delhi's borders have turned into fortresses with police beefing up security and putting up multi-layer barrices to stop movement of vehicles. Barbed wire has also been put up to keep off people on foot.
