Anupam Kher's mother is grateful to PM Narendra Modi. Here's why

Anupam Kher's mother thanks PM Narendra Modi for abrogating Article 370, wishes to resettle in Kashmir, says the veteran actor.

Anupam Kher in an interview to a daily said that his mother Dulari Kher thanked PM Narendra Modi for the Centre's move to revoke Article 370. The veteran actor said that spoke about his Kashmiri Pandit origin . He said as a Kashmiri Pandit who was uprooted from his native place, the revocation of Article 370 has a very different meaning for him. He also said that his mother is grateful to PM Narendra Modi for revocation of Article 370.

'Uprooted from home'

Kher spoke about Kashmiri Pandits being uprooted from their homes 30 years ago. He said that 3-4 lakh people were 'thrown out of their homes' in January 1990. He said that the community has been permanently scarred owing to the incident. He added that while the community coped with the situation they have not forgotten about the incident.

What the abrogation of Article 370 means to his family

While speaking about the significance of abrogation of Article 370 for him and his family, he shared his mother's experience of having to live away from her home. He said that his mother constantly speaks about Kashmir since she had spent much of her life there. He added that his mother is perpetually grateful to PM Narendra Modi for making the historic move. He also said that his mother wishes to settle in Kashmir and hopes that would happen in her lifetime.

On August 5. the Indian Parliament passed two Bills which led to the abrogation of Article 370 and formation of Union Territories Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Union Territories came into existence on October 31.

Former UN chief asks for Anupam Kher's autograph

Anupam Kher is thrilled because former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon asked him to sign the actor's autobiography. The actor took to Twitter to share a brief video that has him giving an autograph to Ki-moon. "My most cherished moment was when the 8th #SecretaryGeneral of @UN #BanKiMoon asked me to sign my autobiography for him. Him saying #Dhanyawad (thank you in Hindi) at the end was the real clincher for me. #JaiHo. Great to be at the @asiainit gala. Thank you for inviting me," Anupam captioned the video, which has received more than 20.3k views.
