Days after veteran Congress leer Salman Khurshid seemingly proclaimed ex-party chief Rahul Gandhi as 'once and future king of democracy,' veteran Bollywood screenwriter Javed Akhtar has given a rebuttal to former Union Minister, terming his oxymoron as 'utterly patic'. In a short but unsparing tweet, Akhtar remarked that anyone who 'fantasizes' about Gandhi scion as Prime Minister is doing his 'best' to keep Prime Minister Narendra Modi in power 'forever'. While Akhtar maintained Rahul Gandhi can be 'acceptable' as one of Opposition leers, he shunned argument for him to be anything more than that.
Akhtar's no-nonsense tweet comes a couple of days after BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra schooled Khurshid for proclaiming former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and his son Rahul as 'once and future king of democracy'. In response to Khurshid's odd proclamation, Patra h reminded former MP that India is a democracy and not a dynasty. BJP leer claimed that Khurshid has intricately pointed out difference between dynasties and democracy. Patra highlighted that democracy does not have kings, as proclaimed by Khurshid, but inste dynasties have kings.

In same tweet, Sambit Patra also took a dig at Salman Khurshid for fanboying over Gandhi family as he labelled former Union Minister as a 'durbari' of 'past kings and future clown princes'. Khurshid's remark came on day marking Rajiv Gandhi's death anniversary. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a suicide bomber on May 21, 1991, when he was at an election meeting at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nu.
