Arrest goons responsible, avoid 'appeals by usual suspects': Anupam Kher on JNU violence

Through his Twitter account, veteran actor Anupam Kher called for much-needed action after the horrifyingly violent incidents that took place at JNU on Sunday.

Highlighting need for immediate and strict action in ongoing political unrest in India, veteran actor Anupam Kher strongly condemned violent attacks perpetrated by masked goons at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). actor took to his Twitter account and expressed his desire to have  identities of masked people exposed as he urged lawmakers to 'arrest' m. He also said that re 'cant' be any bloodshed in a university campus.

Massive violence was reported inside Delhi's JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) campus on Sunday, following which statements of condemnation have come from every direction. Sources have reported that a mob of masked persons gared inside campus with lathis and rods, thrashing students and faculty members and destroying campus property. JNU Students Union president Aishe Ghosh was also injured, being discharged from hospital on Monday morning.

JNU students h been protesting ministration's decision to hike hostel fee for over two months w. Students have also been boycotting classes as part of protest - and it was in this climate that violence took place. In a statement, JNU Teachers' Association (JNUTA) said it condemns orgy of violence that was unleashed in JNU "with connivance of JNU ministration with police standing by as mute spectators".

"Mobs t only went around hostels attacking several students, severely injuring many of m, a JNUTA meeting called to appeal for peace on campus was also attacked by a mob of masked people with stones and sticks," it said.

A teacher suffered he injuries and h to be hospitalized, JNUTA said, ding that cars of several teachers were also smashed. JNUTA held varsity ministration "singularly responsible" for grave situation.
